HOW PRICING WORKS

No Mystery Math. Just a Written Number.

Every job gets a free, itemized, written quote before any work starts — here's exactly how we get to the number, and how to keep it as low as possible.

How We Get to Your Number

Three steps, no pressure, and nothing starts until you've approved a number in writing.

1. Tell us about the job

Use the quote form, call, or text — photos help a lot. Simple jobs can often be quoted from photos alone; bigger ones get a free visit.

2. Get an itemized written quote

Within 24–48 hours you get a quote with labor and materials broken out — so you can see where every dollar goes and trim the list if you want.

3. Approve it, then we work

The written number is the number. If we find something unexpected mid-job, we stop and talk before anything changes.

What Makes a Job Cost More — or Less

You can't control all of these, but knowing them helps you budget before you ever call.

Time on site

Labor is the biggest driver. A one-hour fix and a two-day project are different animals — and batching small jobs into one visit spreads the trip cost across all of them.

Materials

Materials are itemized at what they cost — you'll see them as their own lines, and you're welcome to supply your own fixtures and finishes.

Access & complexity

Second-story work, ceilings, tight crawlspaces, and matching old finishes take longer — the quote will say so up front, not after.

Hidden damage

Water is the classic surprise. If we open a wall and find more than expected, work pauses and you get a revised written scope first.

The service-call minimum

Like every trade, a visit has a floor — the truck, tools, and time cost something even for a small fix. That's exactly why we tell everyone: save up the small stuff and hand us the whole list at once.

What it never includes

Surprise fees, padded materials, or “while we're here” upselling. If we think you don't need something, we'll say so — it's why our reviews read the way they do.

Pricing Questions

How much does a handyman cost in Northern Illinois?

It depends on time, materials, and complexity — which is why we don't publish a rate table that would be wrong for your job. What we promise instead: a free, itemized, written quote within 24–48 hours, so you have your real number before committing to anything.

Is the quote really free? What's the catch?

Really free, no catch, no obligation. We'd rather quote ten jobs and win the right ones than pressure anyone.

Do I pay a deposit?

Not for most small jobs. Larger projects may require one — and if so, it's stated in the written quote before you approve it.

Can the price change mid-job?

Only if the scope changes — and only after we've stopped, shown you what we found, and you've approved a revised written scope.

Do you price-match other quotes?

We quote our real number for doing the job right. Sometimes we're not the cheapest bid — we're okay with that, and our reviews explain why customers are too.
