Nobody thinks about Christmas lights in October — which is exactly why the people who do get the best install dates, the best product selection, and lights on before Thanksgiving. Think of it like booking the good campsite: the magic isn't in July, it's in the January reservation. Here's how the professional install season actually works in Northern Illinois.

The season timeline nobody tells you

• October: booking opens, calendars are wide open, designs get measured and quoted without rush. The secret window.
• Early November: prime install weeks. Weather is still cooperative, and your lights are up (but off) waiting for the switch-flip after Thanksgiving.
• Late November: calendars are functionally full. Late bookers pay rush premiums elsewhere or get January-adjacent dates.
• December: installers are doing service calls and small adds — not full new installs. The sleet has opinions about ladder work.

Do you use my lights or yours?

Either. If yours are commercial-grade and working, we'll hang them. If they're the tangle in the garage tote from 2013, we'll tell you honestly whether they're worth the labor — sometimes new LED strands cost less than the time to triage old ones.

What happens in a big windstorm?

Properly clipped lights ride out normal Midwest weather. If a section comes loose or goes dark, that's a service call — covered, not an upsell.

When do they come down?

January, weather permitting — included in the deal. No lights in March broadcasting your surrender to the neighborhood.

Roofline only, or the whole production?

Rooflines, trees, wreaths, ground stakes — the design conversation is part of the quote. Most homes look their best with a crisp roofline plus one or two accents, not the full Griswold (though we respect the ambition).
